I like it. My love of celebrityism (a word I made up) run rampart in this engaging story that held my attention from beginning to end. We are introduced to Arlena and Penelope who suddenly finds themselves encased in a murder investigation when Penelope finds the body of a young woman near their home who strikingly resembles Arlena. Who is this woman and what is her connection to Arlena?

Finding this connection quickly turned this evenly paced light drama into a page turner because I had to know what was going on. The author did a great job in pulling this story together and I liked how easily it flowed. The author did a great job in keeping me in suspense with the number of suspects and it wasn’t until that “aha” moment, that I knew who the killer was, which surprised me a bit. With a likeable cast of characters and an inside look at the movie industry, this was an equally entertaining and engaging debut and I hope we get to see more of Penelope and Arlena in this enjoyable series.

This was an excellent first novel. The characters were well written and the story was very entertaining. The protagonist is believable and someone I'd welcome spending time with again. I can't wait for the next!

Loved this book! The characters are well drawn and it's cleverly plotted. Totally engrossing, it's a great read. I felt as though I was actually on a movie set. The author is well versed in her setting and she is able to keep the reader in suspense. I can't wait for the second book in the series!
I thought Murder on the Red Carpet brought a very original premise to life in a cozy mystery. I enjoyed learning how things work in movie-making and I loved Penelope's personality. Lots of fun.
This charming, engaging mystery centers on Penelope, movie caterer and a cast of characters you feel you know or would like to know. It is charming and engaging and hooks you right away. You keep reading to see if the twists and turns you are looking for are there. They are. A good read. Looking for more in the series.
I loved the whole story - the premise, the setting, the characters, and the way the story moved smoothly. The ending was a surprise, even though I looked for the clues along the way. I got one part, but then there was more! Very nice and I'd definitely read more by Shawn Reilly Simmonds.

Shawn Reilly Simmons has written a fun cozy mystery with a heroine who is a caterer, some romance, plenty of intrigue, suspense and a cute little doggie, Zazoo thrown into the mix.

The novel was a fun, fast, cozy read that kept me entertained right up to the surprise ending. It was a delightful treat to read.

This is the first book by Ms. Simmons, and I thought it was a wonderful book for her debut book. I understand this is a series and the second book in the series will be published in August 2014. I for one will be looking forward to reading it also.
