Banned on it's original publication in the UK, this is the book the authorities don't want you to know about.
Secret Agent X is one of the new breed of spy, specifically trained to combat the war on terror. Granted special criminal immunity, he has license to do whatever the hell he wants in order to foil terrorist bomb plots. So evolves a complex story in which we follow the secret agent as he delves into the murky underworld of the terror network, all the while transgressing laws and social norms and engaging in what can only be described as the stalking of ordinary members of the public.
A skilled stalker and housebreaker, he reveals his tricks of the trade in a fascinating series of voyeuristic tales, entering the houses of chavs, gays and the middle classes amongst others, concealing himself and watching what the occupants get up to, which a lot of the time, much to his distaste, involves scenes of a sexual nature.
Ostensibly a spy narrative, this book is really a comedy as the narrator X, cleverly reveals how all of his behaviour could so easily be seen as that of a pervert, stalker and lunatic. Indeed X is accused throughout the book of being a knicker thief and must face several accusations of sexual assault, whilst battling all the while to come to terms with the sexual shennanigens of those he is spying on.
We follow X as he goes undercover on various dangerous missions as a gay into a gay bar; as a sandwich board man denouncing the world we live in; and as a Burka wearing Muslim woman. In the final conclusions of the book, the secret agent heads for London to combat the terror threat; only to be caught up in the most terrifying of circumstances to which he heroically responds.
Not wihout its serious points, License to Stalk is a barn storming, action packed comedy romp; and in Secret Agent X, 'Thomas Baden-Riess has spawned a character so mad and deluded and yet so loveable and endearing as to earn him (Secret Agent X) a place as one of literature's great comic revelations.'

License to Stalk is a funny read. It stars a secret agent who will stop at nothing to protect innocent citizens from terrorists. So he goes on very nutty adventures to do just that. The writing is inventive and fun.
