I absolutely enjoyed reading this book to my grand kids and it brought a few smiles to our faces. It seems to me that this book has been created with a lot of love and joy and it is very obvious to me that the author really enjoys creating such wonderful stories.I loved the effort the author put into writing this. The stories and the illustrations are wonderfully done. I would absolutely recommend it to parents as a book for their young children probably aged from about 4 years up to 8 years. Kids develop at different rates so this would be a rough guide depending on where your kids or grand kids are at. This is a nice one all the same. My grand kids liked it, and so did I!
I graciously received a copy of this book for my honest review. I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from ‘Bat Oren’ in the future. Well done on a lovely story!

Children will be thrilled with this book, the story by Bat Oren and the clever unusual drawings by Rosi M. They will also learn a good and helpful lesson.
Blackie, like many children, was afraid of thunder and big dogs. He received a purple coat and thought it was a magic coat. He felt lighter when he wore the coat and it affected his fears.
Children will be fascinated to see if the magic coat really protected Blackie from thunder and big dogs. They will learn, like Blackie, not to be afraid. They will be prompted to think if the coat is really magic and if it really helped Blackie and, if not, why was Blackie no longer afraid?
Encountering the artistry of Bat Oren for the first time is a complete pleasure, even in the bit of biographical information she offers - Bat Oren is the poetic name of Orna Sopel-Miller-Kletter. She knows the art of storytelling well and is joined in this her third book by the fine illustrator Rosi M.
Blackie is a pup with anxiety issues, fearing weather changes, shadows, other animals, etc until he gains a coat – a purple coat with a faux fur collar that is magical. In the new coat he is unafraid of big dogs, is light enough to fly with the ravens, and gains confidence and a happy life. As he matures he gradually outgrows the little coat – but discovers the anxieties fears no longer affect him – even without the magic coat!
Children will love the story, relate to the adorable Blackie (Bat Oren’s dog), and enjoy the illustrations – and oh so subtly understand the transience of fear and how to gain a brave heart. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, December 15

Blackie was a dog who was afraid of big dogs and thunder, until he received a magic purple coat. He wore it everywhere. He believed the coat was magic which gave him the confidence to not fear the things he had feared before. But what will happen when he outgrows the coat?
