This is where I get to say “Hey! I know that guy!” But I also get to marvel in wonder that I had no idea this world was rattling around in his brain until he announced its pending release. And dude.. I mean, I would be a fan even if I didn’t know the guy.I think was drew me most is that there are all these new worlds and species that were unlike anything I have ever read in SciFi before.
I want to know more about the Vulch. I’m ridiculously curious as to what their native voices sound like.
I was to know more about Sya and his homeworld. (And how the heck they became this weird bureaucratic species.)
And Ori is a strong willed human gal that’s probably a lot like most of my RPG players - a mercenary with a hidden huge heart. What she wants most in the universe is to follow in her family’s footsteps and save her “home” - this rickety ship with a sarcastic name.
There’s not a lot to complain about story wise. I was drawn in, this particular book (pretty please be a series) wraps up completely, and I am emotionally vested in seeing what these dingbats of doom do next.

Ori is one of those characters that's completely relatable. When things start going south, your first instinct is "Nope, I'm out if here!" but those deep-seated morals keep you in check and you end up doing what you believe to be the right things in the end.
Fantastic world building. If you were a kid of the 80s or 90s and grew up on sci-fi then you will really like this story. It feels familiar while being new. Characters are diverse and interesting with a powerful realistic female lead.
This book has one major con, and that is that the other books in the series aren't yet finished.
Falling Into Midnight, is a descriptive, well written, enjoyable book.
The Vulch character "Flower", is what truly brings out all the feels, in what is a binge worthy read that will make any sci-fi fan smile.
